SPONSOR TRANSGENDER REPRESENTATION AND LOVE ACROSS THE NATION

My personal goal as an artist is to help tell trans stories.  I want to garner respect for the trans community and I believe that respect comes from understanding.

We started selling flags and immediately heard from some folks who would love to share in our visibility campaign but can’t afford a flag right now. No problem, others can (and have) donated on your behalf. If you want to donate to Pay it Forward and buy someone who can’t a flag, send $40 here:

TRANSGENDER ARTIST MANIFESTO

- RAE SENARIGHI, 2018

We transgender / gender non-conforming people are AUTHENTIC people.

To be trans is to carve out self-acceptance in a world that rarely welcomes us.

We are RIGHTEOUS people.

To be trans is to walk the fine line between personal integrity and personal safety every minute. And we choose integrity again and again and again.

We are COURAGEOUS people.

To be trans is to find the courage to explore our authentic self and to show ourselves to the world, even in the face of danger.
We show up. No matter what hardships we face, we show up with grace.

We are RESILIENT people.

There are millions of transgender people around the world and we face staggering rates of violence and discrimination. We’re bullied, threatened, harassed, and killed 2-3 times more often than other groups and the statistics are even more alarming for trans people of color and trans women. When fixed on survival we lose sight of the power, love, and strength within our transgender family. We highlight the beauty and power among us to remind us to create, connect, and dream.

We are ALIVE & VIBRANT.

“When obedience is demanded and individuality is not honored, the conditioning that is meant to assist in the development of healthy communities becomes… quite damaging to the self that wants to emerge and grow.

In that state of excessive conditioning we are not allowed flexibility, choice, spontaneity, or difference. Our will may feel broken or weak, and we may feel increasingly depressed, flat, or without a clear sense of vibrant and defined self…” ~Alana Fairchild

To be trans is to renounce societal structures to honor our authentic selves. We choose authenticity.

We are POWERFUL people.

Seeing our diverse beauty represented in fine artwork makes us feel less alone. We need spaces to be inspired by images of our defiant, resilient and joyful trans and non-binary family.

Trans and gender non-conforming youth need to see images of strong, kind, hard-working, people who also live beyond society’s definitions to grow their power.

We are ROLE MODELS.

People outside our community need to explore their own unique fluid gender identities.

Cisgender people, it’s okay to experiment, play and color outside the gender lines. It is okay to love yourself as you are, in all your beautiful complexity.  We have valuable lessons to teach, and to teach we must first be seen.
